German University Rowing Championship 2014

This year the Rowing Team of Jacobs University had to compete on the lake Maschsee in Hannover at the Deutsche Hochschulmeisterschaften. Hundreds of rowers from universities from all over Germany rowed for two days on the 6th and 7th of July for the trophy of the best university rowing team in Germany. Jacobs University took part in this great event with 5 girls and 9 boys. Hanse Boat Race 2014

Hanse Boat Race 2014: Jacobs University v HSBA – as it happened Jacobs fought hard, but HSBA wins the 2014 race, following a change in the race start of the men’s eight due to the extremely unfavorable weather conditions on the Hamburg Außenalster. Head of the River Amstel – our weekend in Amsterdam

It was long, it was exhausting, it was fun. That was our weekend in Amsterdam! Like every year, Jacobs University sent its Rowing Team to Amsterdam to participate in the 8k race on the Head of the River Amstel. As usual the Regatta Weekend started with an early ride to the place of the event, followed by a training session on the River. The organizers of the event, Jacobs University Bremen and Jens Hundertmark (discipline coach of the allgemeiner deutscher Hochschulverband (adh)), can be proud: there were even more entries and better results this year than in the past. Kettwig 2013

The "Nikolausregatta" in Essen Kettwig was a great unique event. After a night of socializing and team building on Saturday, the team was ready to show their might at the Regatta on Sunday. For this regatta, the team had only one Cox who had sustained injury the night before the trip. But this did not slow down the team as some rowers volunteered to cox the otherwise coxless boats boats. With one boat brushing against the bushes, it was obviously that for some rowers, it was the first ever coxing experience. Fari Cup 2013

Sunday, 3rd November 2013. Early in the morning most of the Jacobs University Rowing Team took the first train to Hamburg. Everybody still was tired but also excited for the first actuall race of this season. After the “1st International Lesum Regatta“ the 22, Fari Cup, hosted by the Ruder Club Favorit Harmonia, was the first race for the freshmen. First International Lesum Regatta

    With the spirit of the Jacobs University Olympics still lingering, the four colleges on campus set out to find who truly had the best mixed eight in the first ever International Lesum-Race took place in cooperation with the Vegesacker Ruderverein. A great turnout of around 300 people and good spirits were a welcoming environment for the freshmen competing in their first race. Nerves were eased and the races, although intense, were incredibly fun for everyone. In total, 19 races took place over a span of 500 meters, eight of which were finals.
